Fed: Latham says he would close down super schemes for MPs

Opposition Leader MARK LATHAM says superannuation schemes for federal MPs, judges and
the Governor-General would be closed down under a Labor government.

Mr LATHAM says the schemes are well outside the community standard and are out of date.

Mr LATHAM says the schemes offer superannuation benefits seven times more generous
than the current contribution scheme available to the public.

And he says parliamentary superannuation has become a major source of public dissatisfaction
and cynicism in modern politics.
